School Quality Has a Positive Impact on Neighborhoods and Home Value

teacher-in-classroomOften one of the best indicators of a strong neighborhood is the quality of the school district. Schools and districts that rate high tend to drive up the price of the homes in their area. A successful school district attracts home buyers with and without children, offering good neighborhoods and better resale prices.

While the economy seems to have stabilized, it is good to remember the lessons of the recent past. During the recession, when the real estate market was slow, often the perceived value of the school system was the deciding factor in a home purchase. Buying in a good school district may protect your home’s value as the market declines. As you’ve heard many times, “Location, location, location.” Certainly, there are no guarantees. However, parents will always consider the quality of the school serving their children. And savvy home buyers should always consider the resale value of their home in a future up or down market.
